Google Reader

Google Reader is an RSS feed aggregation tool that allows you to read all the web content that interests you in one place. All the content needs to provide is an RSS feed.

Step One
Setup - Create your account and subscribe to feeds Video Tutorial

  1. Go to reader.google.com and sign up for a Google account or sign in to your existing account.
  2. After entering the Reader application, review the default feed items there that offer excellent tutorials on using the Reader.
  3. Click the Add a Subscription button at the top left and either search for feeds of interest or topics you'd like to include in your feeds area.
Step Two
Organize - Create groups to organize your feeds. Video Tutorial

  1. Click Manage Subscriptions at the bottom of the left hand column.
  2. Click on the Subscriptions tab at the top.
  3. Click on the Add to a Folder button and select New Folder.
  4. Type the name of the folder you would like to create and click OK.
  5. Continue to create new folders as desired, or select an existing folder for other feeds.
Step Three
Star or Tag - Identify articles you'd like to save or refer to later Video tutorial

  1. With an article open, click on the Star icon at the bottom. This allows you to easily filter all starred items (read and unread) for later reference.
  2. For more granular filtering and sorting use the Tag feature by clicking on Add Tag at the bottom. You may create and use as many tags as you like.
  3. To view your collection of starred or tagged items click on the appropriate link in the left hand column. You can manage your tags the same way you did for Folders in the step above.
