Request for more details on the Sony EVI-D70

1/12/09 - I received the folowing question from wiki member GSwebmaster:

Got any more info on the synod setup of the Sony EVI-D70? I'm interested if this will work for me at Good Shepherd. How many cameras are they controlling and what kind of hardware/software are they using? I would like 3 cameras and would like to control them remote from a console. I'm thinking run outputs through VidBlaster. Any thoughts?

Synod currently uses 3 Sony EVI-D70 cameras connected to a <a href="http://www.newtek.com/tricaster/">NewTek Tricaster</a>-<a href="http://www.newtek.com/tricaster/tricaster_studio.php">Studio</a>. This may be more expensive a solution than what you're after, but for our needs, this was an efficient transportable method to carry out synod live web streaming with recording capability. One major benefit is the remote control capability by wiring cameras to visca cables and s-video cables as Martin described. would you have a contact that I can call for quote on the EVI-D790 system? I already have a computer system speced for the switching and am looking for 2 cam sys. I have searched the internet and pricing varies. I need a reputable sorce for tha cameras.

I'm told that the synod cameras were purchased from Safe Harbor - http://www.sharbor.com.

I found the camera at http://www.sharbor.com/products/SONN5000056.html.

Hey Sallie! Those wall mounted cameras - is there a way to adjust for backlight problems or less than ideal lighting situations with those? Do you find this valuable?
